Last week, we received a wonderful message from one of our Music & Healing partners. As an oncologist, she develops close relationships with individuals undergoing cancer treatment and in some cases refers patients to ACG’s collaborative songwriting program. Below is a beautiful statement of gratitude from her clinic.
What you do is such an incredible gift.
I can’t tell you how great it was this week to see my patient’s face light up when she said she had a visit scheduled with you. It was a complete 180 from the somber look she had during our whole conversation about what was going on and what we were doing.
She changed in an instant. It was the most genuine smile I’ve seen since I’ve known her. She looked so happy.
Through our partnerships with hospitals and clinics like this one, many providers see ACG Music & Healing projects as particularly powerful tools in creating space for patients to navigate exceptionally difficult situations through personal artistic expression.

Here are a few words from one of our Music & Healing Artists, Shayna. You can listen to the studio recording of her recent song I Can Do It here or watch a live performance of it at the bottom of this page!
“This was my first music and healing project and it was truly life-changing. I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated and heart-driven organization like A.C.G. music and healing. I was not sure what to expect but I knew there would be heavy emotions accompanied with the meetings where we worked on the song with Dolly. The song came directly from her life story. It’s a portrait of the optimism she felt with her family’s support. The meetings with Dolly, her husband and Travis turned out to be a mix of light-hearted exchanges and humbling acceptance, sometimes grief-filled moments, but they were always coupled with Dolly’s warmth which made us smile and this to me was healing in and of itself. Dolly is a remarkably optimistic person with a strong sense of who she is. Her charisma and charm definitely made its way into this song. I can go on and on about the positive effects this program has on the lives it touches.” – Shayna Sands
