On Saturday August 4th at 7:30, Austin’s dynamite Miró Quartet pairs up with Jorge Caballero – one of my all time favorite guitarists. Tickets online or 512-474-LONG.

It will be a stunning show in the spectacular Dell Hall at the Long Center.  We got these five world-class musicians together once before, last October for Austin Pictures.  Honestly it had been a dream of mine to put them together for several years.  They were incredible, and I knew we had to get them together again to do a full program.  I’m super excited it’s happening in Dell Hall, which is such an acoustically magnificent space.

The Miró Quartet is a really fun group of guys – and Caballero is a blast as well.  The idea came to us, that perhaps we could make up some specialty cocktails in their honor on the night of the show!

Literally my first choice to undertake such an endeavor was Bill Norris.  “Best Mixologist” 2009, 2010 AND 2011 (Austin Chronicle) Bill is most certainly Austin’s maestro of mix!

I asked the guys for their favorite current drinks, I gave the guidelines to Bill, and he’s taking it from there! You can even watch an interview with the quartet we did where they talk about their cocktails!

The Miró Quartet is fresh from Avery Fisher Hall (June), where they shared the stage with Yo Yo Ma and The New York Philharmonic!   They’re that phenomenal.

You may already know, that last time we had them here with Caballero, their performance was turned into a popular KLRU television special.  The show was actually aired last week, but it’s scheduled to air again on Thursday, August 2nd at 7PM.

The evening’s program sparkles with master works of Mozart, Paganini, Bach and more.  The cocktail party begins 90 minutes before curtain and continues through intermission and after the concert, with the artists in attendance.
