Making their Austin debut, the spectacular Duo Noire is one of the most inventive and dynamic classical guitar duos in America.
Guitarist Christopher Mallett and guitar-composer Thomas Flippin first met during their studies at the Yale School of Music. Inspired by each other’s passion and adventuresome spirit, they formed a duo and coined their name as combination of “noir” (black) and “la noire” (quarter note).
Since their debut album, they have been internationally celebrated for championing new music that is exciting, vivid, and enjoyable and their work features collaborations from some of the most outstanding composers of our time including Clarice Assad (ACG’s 2021-22 Artist in Residence), Natalie Joachim, and Gabriella Smith. Recent performances include China’s Peking University, the 92 Street Y in New York, and for the Guitar Foundation of America Annual Festival.
