Learning Classical Guitar at The Rosette

Whether you are a brand new or advancing guitarist, let Arnold Yzaguirre (website) be your guide in learning the art and traditions of this beautiful instrument.

 

Beginning Class 1 (Spring 2024)

No experience is required for this fun introduction to the classical guitar. You’ll be making beautiful music from day one, while mastering the fundamental skills you’ll need to advance in your playing.

Classes will take place on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 pm for 8 weeks. All classes will take place in the Rosette Lounge.

Session 2: Tuesday, February 13th
Session 3: Tuesday, February 20th
Session 4: Tuesday, February 27th
Session 5: Tuesday, March 5th
Session 6: Tuesday, March 19th
Session 7: Tuesday, March 26th
Session 8: Tuesday, April 2nd

Beginning Class 2 (Spring 2024)

This class is the perfect fit for adult students who have completed Beginning Class 1, or who already know the basics of classical guitar, and are eager to learn more in a fun, no-pressure group setting. Students will build new skills, such as reading in 1st and 5th position, playing scales and arpeggios, learning how to practice effectively, performing solo and ensemble music, and more! 

Classes will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:15-8:15pm for 8 weeks. All classes will take place in the Rosette Lounge.

Session 2: Tuesday, February 13th
Session 3: Tuesday, February 20th
Session 4: Tuesday, February 27th
Session 5: Tuesday, March 5th
Session 6: Tuesday, March 19th
Session 7: Tuesday, March 26th
Session 8: Tuesday, April 2nd

Intermediate Class (Spring 2024)

For adult students who have completed Beginning Class 2, or have already mastered the material it covers, and are eager to extend their skills and knowledge in a fun, no-pressure group setting. Students will focus primarily on solo pieces from the Classical Guitar standard repertoire, in addition to ensemble music. Students will also continue their work on scales and arpeggios, and expanding their reading into the upper positions of the guitar. 

Classes will take place on either Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:00pm for 8 weeks. All classes will meet in the Rosette Lounge.

Session 2: Wednesday, February 28th
Session 3: Wednesday, March 6th
Session 4: Wednesday, March 20th
Session 5: Wednesday, March 27th
Session 6: Wednesday, April 10th
Session 7: Wednesday, April 17th
Session 8: Thursday, April 25th

Intermediate Class students are absolutely welcome and encouraged to participate in our Open Mic performances at The Rosette! Visit our Open Mic page for more information and a list of Open Mic dates.

What to bring

Participants will need to bring their own nylon-string classical guitar and a footstool. We have a limited number of guitars available to borrow – if you’re interested, please mention it in the “Comments” field when you register below.
