Hector M. Aguilar
Director of Juvenile Justice and Education Specialist
The latest member of Austin Classical Guitar education team, Hector Aguilar holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Texas at Brownsville. Upon graduating in 2014, Hector began working with communities and established various programs throughout the Lower Rio Grande Valley in South Texas.
Hector went on to pursue his graduate studies at Texas A&M University in College Station where he obtained a Master of Arts in Performance Studies in 2019 and at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where he obtained a Master of Music in Guitar Performance in 2021.His work is centered around finding ways of using the arts as a means of promoting wellbeing, and he has presented some of his works in conferences around the United States and as far as Portugal.
Currently, Hector is the Director of Juvenile Justice and Education Specialist at Austin Classical Guitar where he leads the guitar programs at Phoenix House Austin, Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center, and Willianson County Juvenile Detention Center.
