The ACG Community Ensembles offer a welcoming environment for adults to make music with others who share your passion! Under the direction of Tony Mariano, there are opportunities for players at various experience levels.
Eligibility
ACG Community Ensembles are open by interview to any classical guitarist 18 years of age and older.
ACG Chamber Ensemble
This ensemble meets weekly on Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., and is intended for experienced players interested in performing advanced repertoire. Members should have command of scale, slur, and arpeggio techniques and be fluent readers in multiple positions.
ACG Guitar Choir
This ensemble meets weekly on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and is designed for intermediate players with a desire to perform beautiful music. Members should be able to read in first position, have a stable technique, and interest in developing their technical and musical abilities.
Placement Interviews
Placement interviews are held every August for new members. These interviews are free, informal, and provide a chance to get to know you, hear you play, and provide feedback. Placement interviews will be held in person at The Baker Center.
What to prepare for placement interviews:
- One or two pieces that you enjoy playing (not to exceed 5 minutes).
- 1 or 2 octave major scale of your choice with i – m alternation.
- A short sight reading excerpt in first position with simple rhythms provided at the interview
Registration costs
Tuition for ACG Community Ensembles is $300, which covers the full season (typically September through April). Tuition waivers and flexible payment plans are available.
